Team Juvo is a part of Archimedes, a student organization that hosts four design teams exclusively for Virginia Tech freshmen. Guided by upperclassmen leads and subject-matter experts, we have the unique opportunity to participate in STEM design challenges that feature hands-on work.
Founded in 2018, Juvo uses engineering to help the community. Freshmen are tasked with designing a solution for someone in the disabled community. In the past, Juvo has created solutions for accessibility in production, wheelchair disabilities, motor impairments, and more!
Our freshmen members include: Avril Yelland, Will Draper, Ansh Khatiwada, Madison Kim, Abby Sobal, Sabina Borjes, and Prehaan Parikh!
Our project was selected as top six in submissions to the RESNA Student Design Challenge. We will be travelling to New York to present at RESNA's conference.
We presented our research and development of accessible design solutions for swimmers with visual impairments.
We volunteered to help with the science fair at a small school in Virginia. To teach kids about tendon function and biomechanics, we 3D printed mechanical hands to teach through interactive learning.
